When Jenny and I were married, we decided we wanted our lives to contain a certain element of adventure. So, in order to quench this spirit of wanderlust, we decided we would move to Alaska for a Summer while I attended BYU.
What an adventure...
Jenny and I worked in the small town of Denali, just outside Denali National Park. It is in this park where Mt. McKinley (Denali) can be found. Denali is located about 4 hours north of Anchorage and 2 hours south of Fairbanks. Jenny worked as a receptionist in the Denali Hotel and I became a white-water river guide for McKinley Raft.
This experience, besides our marriage and the birth of our children, was truly the best thing we have ever done. We learned to appreciate some of the finer things like running water and electricity because our shack had neither. We lived in a broken down shed where the only way we kept warm was each other and our gas stove.
Today, the legacy of rafting continues... Stay tuned to the next post!

So that is how the river trips started. We are glad you took that adventure! We love your blog!
Thanks! The river trip wouldn't be the same without you! Are you ok if we go over the fourth? We have a ton of family on Jenny's side that are coming out that week. Is that doable for you guys?
Yes that works for us! We wouldn't miss the trip!
So many couples talk about doing those things, but hardly any do--good for you guys!! Isaac and Jacob are lucky to have such adventurous parents. Wish we could be on the trip this year--it is definitley one thing we miss about Utah. Maybe next year
Those were the good ole days.
We had forgotten how cozy that shack was! We weren't sure about what lay a head for you two at that time.
You've come a long way!!!
