...for richer or for poorer
in sickness and in health...
These words took on a whole new meaning at the Bakers this week.
I got sick.
No, really, really sick.
Want to die sick.
I started feeling a little out of sorts on Sunday night. By Monday morning, my unknown assailant was full-blown. I drove myself up to the Instacare with all the skill of a drunk 14-year-old behind the wheel telling myself how to drive straight. There I waited while resting my head on the wall behind me because my head was way too heavy to hold up.
The nurse came and took my vitals and scraped something off the back of my throat to check for strep. I was certain it wasn't strep, no, I was way too sick for strep. It was something deadly and ominous with a name I couldn't pronounce, it had to be.
The doctor came in. Strep was negative (I told you). He diagnosed me with influenza. That sounds deadly and ominous. Had to be right. Oh, wait... influenza is just the flu. Everyone has the flu right now. I was seriously on my death bed with... the flu?
Well, Dr. Matt stepped right in. After I returned home from the doctor he put me straight to bed. He went up to Wal-Mart and filled my prescriptions. He took care of the kids. He brought me food (Costa Vita for lunch and Chick-fil-A for dinner). He let me sleep for 8 hours in one day. The next day was pretty much a repeat. I slept. Matt took care of EVERYTHING else. He still didn't panic when day 3 hit and I still wasn't well.
In ending, it is now Saturday night. I am on the mend, but I will never again underestimate the power of influenza- you know it sounds way better than "the flu". I will also never underestimate the power of a husband taking care of his wife, and consequently everything she takes care of, just because he loves me in sickness and in health.
I am so glad you are on the mend- we went through that 2 weeks ago. First Lance got it and it is the first time he has ever thrown up and he was totally terrified. Then two days later Mommy was down. All of this happened while Jeff was out of town (that is how it usually happens) I don't ever seem to get any help when I am sick.
You are blessed to have a great husband to be there to take care of you. Little side note your wedding picture is great! You both look like little kids!
Hallelujah, for great husbands!!! It sounds like you had it pretty bad--yikes! I'm glad you're feeling better.
I am glad you are feeling better. Daytona had it a month ago and I kept praying that I wouldn't get it. I was definatly blessed. Yeah for Matt, what a good husband.
no fun at all!! But having a great hubby makes it at least bareable! Kudos Matt. I guess you did deserve the skiing trip on Valentines:)
How sweet. You guys are so young in that picture, I love it!
I'm glad you are feeling better. Thank goodness it was a short thing.
